IFTTT.com | Marketing Awesomeness

So, marketing. It's a pain, right? Well I have a little trick to make it a bit more simple. Say you post a picture on Instagram, you can share it to Facebook, twitter, tumblr, and so on. Easy right? Sure! However, it doesn't always work or look the best. Especially with twitter which we will use as an example for this post. If you share a link from Instagram to twitter, all it posts is something like this.

Boring right? Who would want to click that? I don't like clicking links that I don't know what they are. It could be a picture of some naked old lady as far as I'm concerned.  We want to be able to see the images right away. So, using the site I'm about to tell you about, you can make your Twitter page much more exciting and looking like this without having to go and upload the image right to Twitter.

So how do you do that? Well, let me tell you! I was told about this site by my buddy Zach who is a DJ back in Spokane. The site is IFTTT.com. What is that? That sounds weird. Well its stands for If This Then That.

In the coding world, you can set IF THEN statements and such to trigger certain events within the app or whatever it is you're creating. This is like that, but much more simple.

You create IF THEN statements using your social media apps, email, ect. So in this case with Instagram and Twitter, it looks like this,

It's very simple to setup. Just create an account at IFTT.com, link your Instagram account and twitter accounts with the easy step by step process they have on the site.

You can do the same thing for Tumblr, as well as have them post directly to your Facebook business page, ect. There are so many more "Recipes" as they call them on the site that look cool if you have accounts on the apps/websites they are using. Twitter and tumblr are my main social media platforms so I mainly use those. I have also just linked it so when I post to Instagram, then IFTT will post it to my Linkedin account as well, all automatically.

So I know this was a quick little run through but it will give you an idea as to how to use the site and start getting your marketing to the next level!

Hope you enjoyed!!

P.S. When sharing from Instagram, you do not have to select the twitter, tumblr, Facebook, sharing before you post it. IFTTT will automatically recognize that you posted it and share the post. If you do click the sharing buttons, you will have double posts. No one likes that. So stop it. :)
